Elevate/Create

Thinking about going beyond what we do, into what we think. Making
thought a reality...the manifestation of the conscious mind.

Heads Up!

The rocket head dude was a concept born from watching Superman and
Brainiac duke it out. Not so serious and mildly insane...background is
Seattle near Pier 72.

Wu-Tang: Ghostface

Found this autographed pic on the net and decided to do a Sidekick
background with it. Check out www.sk08themes.com/artist/marcelleward

GO-Real+A

This one was drawn up quite a while ago, but I lost the original. Lucky
enough I took a photo of it and came up with this. There is a picture of
downtown Seattle worked into the background. Can you see it?

Go-Real+A is a concept I thought of concerning how cutthroat business
is; the animalistic brutality in corporate America is crazy. It's truly
a damn jungle out there. What I wish is that people become more
sensitive to the needs of others and be more real with themselves.

"Truth meets fiction" is more about how the design was done and the
colors used...the gorilla is read and has on a jacket and tie. Nothing
"real" about that. But the city is a real picture of downtown Seattle
circa summer of 2008.
Great for a t-shirt design. This will probably be my first one.
Really like how this one worked out...

Discipline is Freedom

A nice experiment inspired by one of my Artful Dodger jackets and a "flowers" suggestion by Julie R. This was
crazy but fun. Thought it would turn out garbage but it really looks
cohesive.

I am a Martian!

Lil' Wayne said it first...I just did the follow up.

Panthers!

Aight. My frat brother Curtiss Lindsey wanted a shirt design for his
football squad. All black and white for easy reproduction. Notice the
KOOMP logo and Ministry of Seven within the artwork.

The Winged Sword

This is a tatoo concept for yours truly. I wanted it on my back, but it
looks hella painful. Nah, just kidding. It would only be in blank ink in
that case.

100% Wrestler

A tattoo designed for my friend Titus Taylor. Speaks for itself...

Skully!

Not really my thing, but I thought I'd try it anyways...

Skull and cross bones were hand drawn, then rendered in guess-what.

Alpha Phi Alpha

A tribute to my brothers around the world. Hold Alpha high!

The Big Brain

Good enough for a shirt? Drawn by yours truly and touched up in my
favorite design program.

Meeting of the Minds

I kept the camera stationary and took a picture of myself in 3 different
poses. Can you tell?

M of 7 Coat of Arms

Preliminary rendering of a coat of arms...

Really wanted to see if I could create it completely out shapes in
Photoshop, and I succeeded.

Mind in the City

A very tedious work of graffiti, drawn then modeled in Photoshop.

Time is an Octopus?

Graffiti drawing first, later chopped and screwed in Photoshop. The
smaller drawing is a keyguard background for my Sidekick 2008 theme,
KOOMP 2.
Check out sk08themes.com under marcelleward.

Man on Fire

A tribute to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, also known as Malcolm X or
Detroit Red.

The Persistence of Stars

The text was graffiti on paper, with the background rendered in
Photoshop. Triple7 is my tag.

Disappointment

Charcoal and pastel on paper.
How crazy that feeling is...and we have all known it.

The Devil and Mr. Ward

Charcoal and pastel with some ink thrown in for good measure.
Self-portrait with an image derived from a graphic novel by Neil Gaiman.

Mask

All hand drawn and placed in Photoshop. Do we all wear masks? Which one
is the mask? This was meant to be a t-shirt design.

Flying Brain

A neat design derived from a character I saw in a Battle Angel graphic
novel. I preserved the hand drawn effect.

The Dream

The Dream is a design that was drawn first, then rendered in Photoshop.
Matter of fact, all elements were drawn first.

It makes me think I'm looking inside of someone's dream, or at least an
artistic rendering of of one.

There are two versions. The smaller one is a Sidekick background.

KOOMP'DIT

The finished KOOMP'DIT logo. KOOMP is an acronym for Kings Ordered and
Ordained for Ministry to the People. DIT is an acronym for Dream Imagine
Think.

The base is an inverted light bulb which represents thought or ideas.

Inside the bulb is flame, which is symbolic of desire and passion.

The wings are representative of majesty and freedom.

Authority, strength and kingship reside in the crown.

The star means imagination and dreams.

Last but not least is the G7 logo. The number 7 and the letter G are
devine characters, representing God.

The Cross

"...God is my bodyguard...". One of my favorite rappers. Ghostface,
said this and even though he isn't a Christian, I believe him. I intend
to make a design that mentions the previous. There will be much more
God centered design to follow.

The words, "seek and ye shall find" are part of the verse in Matthew
7:7. This truth is now a staple in my life, and I continue to trust God
in all I do. I think it is an excellent use of typeface and design.

M of 7...

Fully rendered in photoshop, this is a design created to accompany a
particular sidekick theme as a keyguard background. You can view many
of the designs I have created for the Sidekick 2008 on sk08themes.com
under marcelleward.
